Mexico- December 2001
Richard and I flew to San Jose Del Cabo, Mexico, with our folding Bike Fridays, and began our journey along the East Cape Road. We took a bus over a section of dangerous paved road to Los Barriles. From there we bicycled North to El Cardonal on very sandy, washboard road to a secluded beach motel. We then began our trip along the dirt coastal road back to San Jose, stopping at Verdugo's in Los Barriles, a bungalow in Cabo Pulmo, a little B&B at Buzzard's which was about 5 miles from Del Cabo and Senor Manana back at our starting point. Lots of nice beaches to walk for miles, great food and needed rest between the longer bike days from destination to destination. All the places we visited were very small with lots of charm and character. Some parts of the road were such deep sand, we had to push our bikes along. It was quite an adventure. Two and a half weeks gave us plenty of time to bike, beach walk, relax and re-energize before coming back to Winter in Alaska.
